Our History

1991

Missionary Tom Smith came to Ormoc in 1991 as an Evangelist and church planner. The ministry was tough during those times. It’s not easy to establish a church. The city is hurting because of the tragic flood that swept more than 8000 lives. God impresses him to have a ministry where people can meet to watch Christian movie, read Christian books, listen to tapes, etc.

1997

The Lighthouse Resource Center was then started in 1997 (along Real St. near Anilao bridge) so that people can have a neutral place to have fellowship together.

2000

In July 2000, when people started to meet together regularly, Missionary Tom Smith, along with Ptr. Cleto Bacarro (officer-in-charge of the Resource Center) and Ptr. Vir Olaer (Leyte Church planter) decided to finally upgrade it into a regular church calling it The Lighthouse Christian Ministry. Ptr. Cleto Bacarro became the very first pastor of LCM.

2005

In 2005, Ptr. Cleto decided to go back to Cagayan de Oro City to serve in his home church. While LCM transferred back in downtown along Rizal st.

2006

June 20, LCM officially called Ptr. Vince Olaer to be their pastor.

2012

God gave LCM its own property and a new building where we are located now. LCM also became Ormoc Lighthouse Christian Ministry (OLCM).
